People believed both of them blindly

Shyam
For more than 50 years, what the bosses of the 'Amway' mob have steadfastly pretended to be reality, and what they have actually been doing, have been completely different. The unsustainable lies of individual confidence tricksters, like the Frenchman Christophe Rocancourt, seem almost benign in comparison.
It seems impossible, but numerous wealthy, well-educated and apparently street-wise adult Americans (after being subjected to various devious techniques of psychological, social and physical persuasion, designed to shut down their critical and evaluative faculties) became temporarily convinced that a glamorous young foreigner (whom they'd just met), had access to unlimited amounts of fake US money which was so good that even banks would accept it, and that he was prepared to sell it exclusively to them for half its fake face value?
In the same way, it seem impossible, but tens of millions of adults around the world (after being subjected to various devious techniques of psychological, social and physical persuasion, designed to shut down their critical and evaluative faculties) have become temporarily convinced that a pair fabulously-wealthy Dutch Protestant families from the American mid-west have had access to a secret and exclusive knowledge which can make anyone prosperous happy and free, and that these philanthropists have been prepared to sell this secret knowledge to anyone.
